Traveling model Jenna shot with me at Powell Butte in Portland, Oregon, in March 2017. We have had one of the rainiest years on record here in rainy PDX, but Jenna and I somehow got to have an hour to stand outside and not get drenched. This year that qualifies as miraculous. At one point we found a huge Doug Fir tree burned out and collapsed. I think it fell because of a lightning strike; at any rate it was lovely to shoot beside it.

in April 2016, future Patagonia and Norway resident Sarah Bethea and I shot together in downtown Portland. It was another absolutely perfect afternoon with warm, bright sun bringing large crowds everywhere downtown.
Portland, Oregon, is full of great creative people. Singer Eve Connell is one of them. In February 2017 we shot together at Sellwood Riverfront Park in southeast Portland. With her charm and fearlessness, she's like our town's own Mary Tyler Moore. It was fun to capture some of that spirit.
Leach Botanical Garden
After our trip to the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in April 2017 Amanda Ulrich and I visited the Leach Botanical Garden on the outer edge of southeast Portland. We didn't have much time as we got there just a few minutes before closing. It is such a lovely spot though that I still had a blast. There are so many interesting plants there, and the whole estate (of about 17 acres) is serene and gorgeous...
Ellie Pritts and Portland's Mississippi District
Angeleno power-player Ellie Pritts and I wandered in April 2017 around a couple of blocks in North Portland's Mississippi District, where there are fun little shops, bars, and coffee shops. Plus, we got to see one of the most wonderfully named parks in town, DeNorval Unthank City Park, or as it's more commonly known: Unthank Park. What a name! And from what I hear, Dr. Unthank himself was pretty amazing too, breaking numerous racial barriers in 20th century Portland...
